SICON: Operations Manager (Hurunui)

SICON Ltd holds a number of maintenance contracts throughout Canterbury for Local Authorities, which include Timaru, Selwyn, Waimakariri and Hurunui District Council. SICON provide a wide range of services across these contracts that include roading, three waters, waste services and parks and reserves.

What’s the role?

Due to growth we have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the team to deliver the day to day activities in the Hurunui Roading Maintenance division.

To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for working with foreman and field staff to create a positive culture that strives to effectively and efficiently organise our people and plant, that fosters competent and capable people who work safely, to the known level of quality and in a collaborative way with contract managers, subcontractors and others.

Ideally, you'll have held a similar position previously, and have completed relevant training. You'll also have solid experience with road maintenance / contracting industry, and it goes without saying that you'll have excellent communication skills. We are looking for someone who will thrive in this role and make significant contributions to the success of our business.

You will bring the following:

  • Experience working in the road maintenance / contracting industry
  • Proven people leadership experience in the sector
  • 10+ years’ experience in the sector with STMS L1, WTR endorsement, Class 1-4, National Certificate/s or related trade qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to accurately cost jobs
  • Experience with RAMM (advantageous)
  • Physically fit and self-motivated
  • Health and Safety conscious with a positive attitude
  • Able to work as part of a team and to deadlines
